About Us

Fallbrook Montessori is a private, independent, non-profit school for children ages 3 to 12 years. Founded in 1974, we are one of the oldest Montessori schools in San Diego County. We are a community of children, parents, and teachers defined by and committed to cultivating informed, inquisitive minds and compassionate hearts in each of our members. By fostering a love of learning, inspiring creativity and self-motivation, along with providing a stimulating, attractive and respectful environment, FMS aims to maximize the potential of every child.

What We Do

Fallbrook Montessori School is truly a home away from home for children. We create a warm, nurturing, child-centered, classroom environment where the children develop independence, respect, creativity and a strong sense of self. This carefully and thoughtfully prepared environment constantly stimulates the child’s natural desire to learn and explore through the use of durable and inviting hands-on learning materials.

We offer a world-class education of the mind, intrinsically intertwined with a nurturing of the heart that propels children to be all that they can be. Children learn at their own pace according to their individual needs with guidance from Montessori trained and certified teachers. By removing barriers to learning, we find the children’s rapid development often astonishing us.

Low teacher-student ratio

Most public and private school have ratios of 1 teacher to 20 students or more at elementary, and 1 to 12 at preschool. The teacher to student ratios at FMS average 1 to 8 currently and will go no higher than 1 to 10. Therefore, your child will receive the personal attention that he or she deserves, while respectfully being given the opportunity to take risks and learn on his or her own.

Multi-age classrooms

True to Dr. Montessori’s insights, we preserve the 3 year age spans she understood to be so powerful. The groupings of 3 to 6, and 6 to 9 or above, allow the child to spend three years in the same classroom, with the same teacher, developing a strong emotional bond. The teacher will get to know and understand your child as a unique individual, discovering effective strategies to motivate and challenge him or her. Like a family constellation of the youngest, the middle, and the oldest, the roles of each are often influenced by birth order. In our Montessori multi-aged classrooms, EVERY child has the opportunity to experience the benefits of each level in turn, developing the skills to both lead and be led – skills that will serve your child for the rest of her life.
